Professional Relationships

Capable at work. Struggling with the people.
The patterns you carry inside shape how you communicate, collaborate and lead. Whether you are running a team, facing a difficult conversation or deciding whether to speak up in a meeting, understanding those patterns gives you more choice in how you respond.
Does this sound familiar?

You can be highly capable at work and still find relationships one of the most demanding parts of your professional life.
You take on more than your share and find it hard to hand things over. You look confident while quietly doubting yourself, and the conversation that needs to happen keeps getting put off. Certain people leave you frustrated, defensive or second-guessing yourself, and you can replay a meeting for hours afterwards. Under pressure, you take over, withdraw or agree just to keep the peace, and then feel annoyed with yourself for it.
For some people, work also becomes the place where they feel most competent or in control. Without consciously choosing it, work can begin to take more and more space while personal relationships receive what is left.
Where it Shows up
Carrying Everything
Alone

You may lead, teach, coach or support others, with or without a leadership title.
People turn to you for guidance, while you balance their needs with your own expectations and the demands of your work.
Familiar
Reactions & Responses

Certain people or conversations may leave you frustrated, defensive or questioning yourself long afterwards.
You replay a meeting for hours, analysing what you said and how it came across. Under pressure, you might take over, withdraw or say yes to keep everyone happy, then feel angry with yourself for agreeing again.
Work Leaves Little Room for Life

When work takes over: physically home, mentally still at work, with less and less of you left for the people outside it

What Can Change
As you understand your reactions more clearly, you can recognise familiar patterns sooner and choose how to respond. That awareness becomes practical: in what you say, the decisions you make and how you relate to others.
-
staying steadier when people or circumstances challenge you
-
making decisions rooted in your values and trusting them
-
having difficult conversations more honestly
-
knowing what is yours to carry and what can be shared
-
supporting others without taking over
-
noticing how your assumptions, emotions and communication affect others
-
giving your time and energy to work and home by choice rather than by default
Space to Grow
We start with what you want to develop, at work, in your relationships or in your life. Together we look at what gets in the way, including the beliefs, expectations and reactions that are hard to see on your own.
The work is reflective and practical. You try new responses between sessions and bring back what you notice. Sessions can be fortnightly, for closer support, or monthly, for regular reflection, at a pace we agree together.
Private sessions in person in Winchester, or online.

Coaching Partnership
We’ll spend 30 minutes exploring what brings you here, how I work, and whether our partnership feels like the right fit for the depth of work you are looking to do.
A focused session to understand where you are now and what you want to develop in your life, work or relationships. Together, we explore what needs attention, identify what may be getting in the way and map a direction for your coaching journey.
A coaching partnership shaped around your needs. We agree the pace together, allowing time between sessions to experiment, notice what changes and build on what you discover.

Complimentary Consultation
You do not need to know exactly what you want to work on before getting in touch.
In a complimentary 30-minute initial conversation, you can tell me what is happening, ask about my approach and see whether working together feels right.
We can then discuss whether a Clarity Session or a longer coaching partnership would be the best place to begin.
